The youth of today has a great task at hand. It is on our shoulders that the future of the world lies. The need of today’s time is to be fit, mentally and physically for great challenges that lie ahead. We all know the benefits of being fit. But how many of us really make an effort to be in good health? Most of us eat junk food which harms our body to a great extent. A stressful urban life and the pressure of doing well in the rat race, has increased the number of youth turning into chain smokers. Similarly, much of our time goes in watching TV or on the internet.   

 

We really need to be more responsible towards our body. Exercising is the best way to become fit. We don’t need a gym subscription for doing light exercises. Any kind of physical activity can benefit a lot. Physical activity need not be strenuous to be beneficial. Moderate amounts of daily physical activity are recommended for people of all ages. This amount can be obtained in longer sessions of moderately intense activities, such as brisk walking for 30 minutes, or in shorter sessions of more intense activities, such as jogging or playing basketball, football, cricket or Badminton for 15-20 minutes. Other than this, we can just try climbing stairs of our building or the mall or anywhere else. We should just try not to take the elevator. We can also join dance, aerobic or yoga classes in the weekends. More than keeping us fit; it also helps as a great stress buster

 

In the similar manner we need to be mentally fit as well. This can only be achieved by having a positive outlook towards life. Many researchers say that almost all diseases occur only due to mental stress, which ultimately harms the other parts of the body. It is rightly said that ‘It’s all in the mind’. We have heard about positive thinking a lot of times by our parents and teachers. But if we really think about it, it is the only solution we have to all our problems. Meditation and yoga can greatly increase our mental strength. It not only helps in reducing our stress but also increases our confidence and concentration levels.

 

So guys just throw off that cigarette, give up the harmful lifestyle we are leading and strive hard to become mentally and physically fit. We have to make an effort towards this not only for ourselves but also for our family, society and also our nation.

 

A SMALL STEP, BUT HOPING TO BECOME BIG.
